Gang Rips Finger Off Tourist

An English tourist has lost a finger during an attack by a gang during St Patrick's Day.

Guy Wallace, 17, was celebrating St Patrick's Day in O'Connell Street when he was approached by a group of five youths. They asked him where he was from and attacked him when the teenager told them he was from England.

Mr Wallace managed to escape the attack before realising he had lost a finger during the fray. Garda were unable to recover the finger from the scene.

The injured teenager, also a pianist, underwent surgery in Dublin's Mater Hospital on Tuesday to repair the wound.
