Broadband A Long Way From Tipperary

Up to 150 jobs could be lost from Co Tipperary if access to broadband is not established.

The issue was raised today in the Dáil by Fine Gael TD Tom Hayes who said that four firms in his Tipperary South constituency were in danger of moving elsewhere because of delays in the roll-out of the technology.

Mr Hayes told the Dáil: "We’ve had commitments and statements but no movement."

Ceann Comhairle John O’Donoghue ruled the issue ‘out of order’.

Sport and Tourism Seamus Brennan, representing the Government in the Dáil emphasised that legislation had been published in 2007 that addressed some of the issues that Mr Hayes had raised.
