Man Jailed For Running Brothel

A Dublin man has been sentenced to three years in prison after being convicted of running a brothel in the city.

44-year-old Martin Morgan was also hit with a €24,000 fine.

Last week Morgan was found guilty at Dublin Criminal Court of running the brothel at a Bachelor's Walk apartment in 2005

The brothel was targeted as part of the garda operation, Quest, set up in 2005 to deal with organised criminal prostitution in the city.

Man Charged With Running Brothel Is Senior Government Advisor
A man charged yesterday with operating brothels and living off the earnings of prostitutes was a senior transport consultant who offered advice to the Government on a major infrastructure project. 54-year-old Thomas Lyons was charged with seven counts under the Criminal Law Sexual Offences Act, and one count of making a false statement to gardai.

New Red Light Running Safety Initiative Launches In Dublin
A new red light running safety initiative in Dublin has been launched by Gardaí, supported by the Road Saftety Authority (RSA). There are 1,620 sets of traffic lights in the Dublin region across all four local authorities and every day, road users put themselves at great risk by driving, cycling or crossing through red lights.

Water Ration Imposed By Councils
Many of Ireland's local authorities, including Dublin, have issued public ration's on the use of public water supplies due to burst pipes and a rise in demand. According to many council's this morning, supply has been interrupted due to low pressure across the network.
