Body Found In Field Linked To Missing Father

Gardai fear a decomposed body found near disused farmland in Co Clare to be that of a missing father of three.

The remains are believed to be that of Ivan Hyde, 31, from Ashe Avenue in Limerick who has been missing since 29 October, last year.

A farmer found the body as he walked his dog along a wall in Ryaninch, Ballina at 4pm on Wednesday. It is not yet known how long the remains had been there.

Widespread searches were conducted last year for the dad, who was described as a keen walker, after he was spotted in Lahinch, Co Clare and Ballina before his disappearance.

Assistant State Pathologist, Dr Michael Curtis was due to examine the remains last night after they were removed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.

At this stage of the investigation gardai at Killaloe are not looking for anyone else in connection with the man's death, and although the body has not been formally identified, it is believed that the clothes found at the scene match those of the missing man.
