Two Arrested Over Drogheda Murder

Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Darren McKeown in Drogheda, Co. Louth on December 26 last year.

Mr McKeown, 29, died in hospital three days after he was attacked in the Rowan Heights area of the town.

A man and a woman – both aged 19 – have been arrested in connection with the killing and are being held at Drogheda Garda Station.

Man Arrested Over Drug Dealer Murder
A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a Co Louth drug dealer, Paul Reay. Gardaí at Drogheda said this morning they had arrested a man in his early 40s in connection with the two-year investigation. Paul Reay was murdered at Tredagh View, Marley's Lane, on 23rd November 2006.

Two Released in Darren McKeown Murder Investigation
The two people arrested on Tuesday morning in connection with the murder of Darren McKeown in Drogheda, Co. Louth, have been released. It is understood that the man and the woman, both aged 19, were released on Tuesday night.

Two Arrested And Firearm Seized In Drogheda Area
Two people have been arrested and a firearm has been seized following a Gardai operation targeting dissident republican activity in the Drogheda area. On 11 July, Garda stopped and searched a car at around 3pm in the Crushrod Avenue area.

INMO Members Hold Further Protests
Nurses and midwives, members of the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO), SIPTU and the PNA, are to hold further lunchtime protests. The action is being taken today (2 March) in a number of locations. It is in response to a proposed 50% increase in the annual retention fee being sought by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Drivers Urged To Take Extra Care On The Roads
Motorists have been urged to take extra care on the roads due to snowfall overnight. On minor roads, ice and snow are causing major problems. Cavan, Drogheda, Monaghon, Kells, Greystones, Navan and Kilkenny city have particularly been affected by heavy snow. It will be very cold and windy today with frequent showers, according to Met Eireann.
