Paraplegic Faces Extradition On Murder Charges

A paraplegic wanted by police investigating a murder in the UK is to be extradited from Ireland on Thursday night to face charges.

Jason Brady, 27, from Cushlawn Drive in Tallaght, will board a flight with British officers in order to face charges in connection with the death of Charles William Tandy in the West Midlands just over six years ago.

Mr Tandy died when he was hit by a stolen car, which was fleeing from a technology building at Redding Lane in Tyseley in Birmingham, following the theft of a laptop. Another person was also injured in the incident.

Mr Brady was identified as the prime suspect in the killing 10 days after the incident, but requesting authorities in the UK only issued a European Arrest Warrant in July 2006.

Mr Brady, who has been confined to a wheelchair since a car accident in 2006, lost his appeal against extradition earlier this month.

However, Chief Justice Mr John L Murray, temporarily postponed making the order for 10 days because of Mr Brady's medical condition and requirements.
