Man Arrested In Connection With Sheriff Street Attack
A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Gavin McCarthy last week.
The man in his 20s was arrested in Dublin's north inner city and is being detained in the Store Strreet Station under the offences against the state act.
Mr McCarthy died from multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
Fianna Fail TD Cyprian Brady spoke out over the attack, saying the killing was only a "symptom" of crime ongoing in the capital.
"This is not going to stop unless we tackle the issue of drug and gun crime from all sides and adopt a common approach; from early intervention and education to justice policies and the continuous provision of targeted community resources."
"I went straight down to the Sheriff Street area to speak to the local people last night and I couldn't get over the amount of young children running around the streets. It is only a matter of time before an innocent child or bystander is injured or killed."
The Minister also called for Government Departments, Government agencies, voluntary organisations, community organisations and community representatives to work together on a common crime prevention strategy.

Man Arrested Following Drugs Find
Drugs with an estimated street value of €170,000 have been seized by gardai during a raid on a property in west Dublin. Cocaine and cannabis was found during the raid at a house in Balgaddy. A gun and ammunition were also discovered. A 37-year=old has been arrested and is being detained at Ronanstown Garda Station.

Gardai have arrested an 18-year-old man following a drugs seizure last night at a Dublin address. Officers launched the search at a house on Lower Sheriff Street at approximately 11.30pm, with the pre-planned operation carried out by Gardai from Store Street, the Divisional Crime Task Force and the Garda Dog Unit.

On 13 August 2018 at approximately 6.50pm a man, aged in his 50s, got out of his car on Mount Street Upper and walked towards the junction of Mount Street and Fitzwilliam Street Lower junction.
