Search Continues For Missing Irish Girl in Spain

The search is continuing for missing Irish teenager Amy Fitzpatrick in Spain,

The 15-year-old has not been seen since she left a friend's house around 10pm on New Year's Eve to return home in the hills around the town of Calahonda, where she has lived for a number of years with her mother Audrey, stepfather Dave Mahon and 17-year-old brother Dean.

An extensive search, involving more than 200 police officers and volunteers, took place in Mijas, Fuengirola and parts of Marbella last week, but failed to unearth any clues. The search has now reportedly been scaled back.

It is understood that Amy had been due to return to Ireland in the next few weeks and had been looking forward to the trip.

Spanish police are now questioning Amy's brother Dean as part of a routine inquiry into her disappearance. Her mother and stepfather have already been questioned.

Meanwhile, Amy's father Christopher Fitzpatrick returned to Ireland at the weekend following a trip to Spain where his daughter vanished.

He declined to comment on the case when he arrived at Dublin airport on Saturday afternoon.
