Man's Hand Severed In Dublin Pub Sword Attack

A 33-year-old man has been arrested after a man's hand was severed in a sword attack at a pub in north Dublin last night.

The attack happened in the Deputy Mayor pub in Meakestown around 9:15pm on Sunday night.

According to reports, a row broke out after two men entered the pub, one armed with what appeared to be a sword and the other armed with what was believed to be a hammer.

A 27-year-old man was attacked and was taken to the Mater Hospital before being transferred to St James' Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.

There have also been reports that he also suffered serious head injuries in the attack, but these have not been confirmed.

The 33-year-old man arrested in connection with the attack is being held at Finglas Garda Station.

Man Injured In Gun Attack
A man, 21, has been shot in Dublin in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The attack happened at Slieve Bloom Park in Driminagh at around 5.10am. The man is being treated for injuries to his leg at St James' Hospital. Gardai are appealing to witnesses to contact them.

Man Injured In Dublin Attack
A man has been injured in a serious attack in Dublin. It happened in Kearn's Place at around 2am this morning. The victim, believed to be in his 30s, was slashed across the face. He is currently at St James's Hospital, where his injuries are being described as "superficial".

Firefighters Hose Down Sword Attacker
A man has been arrested after reportedly attempting to attack firefighters with a sword in Dundalk, Co. Louth. It is understood that the attack happened in Marion Road as firefighters attempted to put out a fire in a car around 1.50am on Friday.

Second Man Charged With Murder Of Irene White
A second man has been charged in connection with the 2005 murder of Irene White. Ms White was found dead at her home in Dundalk, Co Louth, on 06 April, 2005. She had been stabbed to death in a violent attack shortly after returning home from leaving her children to school.
