Murder Investigation Launched Following Dublin Stabbing

Gardaí in Dublin have launched a murder investigation after a man was stabbed to death in the city at the weekend.

The body of Michael Hughes, from Banagher in Co. Offaly was found at an apartment complex in the Mount Argus area of Harold's Cross around 6.30am on Saturday.

A post-mortem revealed that he had died from multiple stab wounds.

A 24-year-old man was arrested near the scene and is currently being treated in hospital after reportedly becoming ill during questioning. It was reported on Monday that the man had been refused admission to the psychiatric unit at St. James's Hospital on two separate occasions last week and also refused admission to the same unit at St Vincent's Hospital.

The Health Service Executive would not confirm the reports, but said that they were trying to establish the facts of the case.

The 24-year-old, believed to be from Dublin, is thought to have fallen from a balcony at an apartment in the municipality of Naples. The man was living in the city and working as a teacher. The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance to his family.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Protection Of Life During Pregnancy Bill Published
The Protection of Life during Pregnancy Bill has been published by the government following approval by the Cabinet. Several significant changes have been made to the outline of the Bill, which was published in April. The Minister for Health will be given the power to stop suspended an institution if deemed to be operating the Act inappropriately.
