AK-47 Gunman Held In Dublin

Gardaí officers are continuing to question a man in Dublin today after he was found to be carrying an AK-47 assault rifle.

They are now holding the 22-year-old following the seizure of the dangerous weapon in the city centre.

The gun was found with a quantity of ammunition when police stopped the man on Camden Street, shortly before 9pm on Thursday, and searched a hold-all he was carrying.

The plain-clothed gardaí who discovered the rifle and two magazines - one of which was full - arrested him and took the suspect to Harcourt Terrace Garda station.

Missing 25-Year-Old Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A 25-year-old man who was missing from Harcourt Street in Dublin has been found safe and well, Gardaí have reported. Simon Quinn was reported missing after last being seen at around 2.30am on Monday, 30 July. However, Mr Quinn has now been found and Gardaí said they wish to thank the media and public for their assistance.

Missing Co Mayo Man Found 'Safe And Well'
Missing Co Mayo man, David Duffy, has been found safe and well, garda have reported. Garda had issued an appeal for help in tracing 36-year-old Mr Duffy, who had not been seen since Sunday. Garda have thanked the public for their help and said that no further action is needed.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Man Claims He Found Rifle 'In A Field'
A 23-year-old man has been jailed for two years after pleading guilty to possession of a firearm, which he claimed he found in a field. It is understood the man claimed he found the firearm, believed to be a rifle, "when he cycled over it in a field", before he took it home and put it inside a wall of his home.

Man Found Dead In Co Laois
An investigation has launched after a man was found dead at a house in County Laois. According to reports, the 54-year-old was discovered at the bottom of the stairs of a house in Rathdowney at around 10.30pm. The death is not being treated as suspicious and gardai are continuing to investigate.
