Wicklow Roads Claim Victim

The driver of a car involved in a fatal accident last night in Co Wicklow has been arrested.

A 41-year-old pedestrian died after the incident in Roundwood, Co Wicklow.

The man was hit by a car while crossing the town's Main Street at around 9.30pm.

The victim - who has not yet been named - was rushed to Loughlinstown Hospital, where he died less than two hours later.

The 35-year-old driver of the car was arrested at the scene and was later charged.

He has since been released and will appear at a sitting of Wicklow District Court on November 20th.

Pedestrian Dies After Being Hit By Car In Co Wicklow
A pedestrian has died after being hit by a car in Co Wicklow. The incident occurred on the Coolgreany Road in Arklow at around 2.20am on Monday, 05 June. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to St Columcille's Hospital, Loughslinstown. A post-mortem is to be carried out. The driver of the car was not injured.

Motorcyclist Dies Following Co Wicklow Road Crash
A man has died in Co Wicklow when his motorcycle was involved in a road crash in Blessington at around 18:35 on Wednesday evening. The motorcyclist collided with a car at Crosscool Harbour, suffering serious injuries. He was taken to Naas General Hospital, where he died a short time later.

Man Missing As Car Goes Off Co Wicklow Pier
A search and rescue operation is underway after a car went into the sea off the pier in Arklow, Co Wicklow, around 06:00 on Tuesday morning. A woman, believed to be in her 20s, is being treated in St Columcille's Hospital in Loughlinstown. Gardaí are still searching for a man, who is in his 30s.

Renewed Appeal For Missing 35-Year-Old Man
Gardaí have renewed an appeal for help in tracing a missing 35-year-old man from Co Kildare. Marcin Michalak, a Polish national, was last seen at a supermarket in Maynooth on the evening of Sunday, 17 April. He is described as being 5' 9'' in height, strong appearance and has a tight hair cut and a partial beard.
