Drogheda Death - Man In Court

A 28-year-old man has appeared in court charged in connection with the fatal stabbing of his twin brother in Drogheda, Co. Louth on Sunday night.

Colm Donlon was found in an apartment in Fair Street around 10pm on Sunday night and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Aidan Donlon, from Priorland in Dundalk, appeared before Drogheda District Court, charged with intentionally or recklessly causing serious harm.

He was remanded to reappear before the same court next Friday.

Heroin worth an estimated street value of approximately £210,000 has been seized in County Louth. The seizure was made following a cross-border operation on Sunday, 21 August. Gardaí intercepted two UK registered cars on the M1 and discovered the drugs. Two men and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of drug trafficking.

Search For Man Who Stole Garda Car
A hunt has been launched for a man that stole a Garda vehicle before driving it over the border and alighting in South Armagh. Gardaí said they are searching for the man who was stopped by two gardaí driving near Lusk, Co Dublin, at around 9.30pm on Sunday night. He was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving and placed in the garda car.

Man Appears In Court Over Gardai Assaults
A 38-year-old Drogheda man has appeared before a special sitting of Mullingar District Court charged in relation to assaults on two gardaí in the early hours of Monday morning. The man was alleged to have assaulted the female gardaí at about 3am on George’s Street, Drogheda, Co Louth.

Two Arrested And Firearm Seized In Drogheda Area
Two people have been arrested and a firearm has been seized following a Gardai operation targeting dissident republican activity in the Drogheda area. On 11 July, Garda stopped and searched a car at around 3pm in the Crushrod Avenue area.
