Seven-Year-Old Injured In Bomb Attack

A seven-year-old boy is receiving treatment in hospital following a bomb attack at his house in Dunmurry, on the outskirts of Belfast.

The boy, who suffers from cerebral palsy, was at home with his 79-year-old grandmother at the time of the incident and sustained cuts and bruises.

A pipe bomb was placed on the window sill of the property at Oakvale Gardens on Saturday night and extensive damage was caused to the front of the house and the living room.

The boy’s grandmother was not injured but was treated for shock. The boy’s father and a friend who were in another part of the house escaped injury.

The window of a neighbouring house and a number of cars parked nearby were also damaged.

A PSNI spokesperson said that police had ruled out a sectarian motive for the attack.
