Inquiry Launched Into Fatal Galway Crash

An investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding a fatal road accident, which occurred yesterday in County Galway.

A 65-year-old woman died in a road accident in Lenamore, County Galway when an off-duty Garda, who was driving his own car, was in a collision with a transit van.

The incident happened on the N17 between Tuam and Milltown at about 3.30pm on Tuesday afternoon. The woman was a passenger in the Garda's car.

Four people were taken to University College Hospital in Galway following the crash and their condition is described as stable.

The Garda Commissioner has referred the accident to The Garda Síochána Ombudsman Commission and investigators are at the scene of the accident

Galway RNLI have rescued a 19-year-old man from an island off Silver Strand. The teenager had become stranded in an area called Grey Rock by the rising tide at about 19:45 on Wednesday. A kayaker who spotted the teenager and raised the alarm.

Garda Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Galway Accident
Gardaí are appealing to witnesses of a fatal road accident in Galway on Tuesday night. A 60-year-old man died after his car hit a wall in the Liosban Industrial Estate at about 22:00. No other vehicles were involved in the accident. The victim was pronounced dead at University College Hospital Galway.

Eight Unused Garda Stations Go Under The Hammer
