Free Dublin City Fleadh Takes Over City Centre This Weekend
Dublin will come alive with traditional music and culture this weekend as the 2026 Dublin City Council Dublin City Fleadh takes over the city centre on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 August. With dozens of performances and activities across five hubs and free admission for all, it is one of the capital's biggest showcases of Irish trad.
From 12pm each day, Smithfield Square, Meeting House Square, Wolfe Tone Square, Parliament Street and Capel Street will host trad sessions, céilís, live performances, arts and crafts workshops, and family entertainment.
Smithfield Square will feature a standout bill, with Altan, Dervish and the Sharon Shannon Big Band on Saturday, followed by Kíla, Madra Salach and The Scratch bringing high-energy sets on Sunday. For more intimate sets and special collaborations, head to Meeting House Square, where leading figures in Irish music — including Andy Irvine and Quilty, Máirtín O'Connor, Cathal Hayden and Seamie O'Dowd — will perform alongside a host of acclaimed guests.
At Wolfe Tone Square, visitors can join open sessions, enjoy piping and harp recitals, and step out for outdoor céilís, while Capel Street will buzz all day with the unmistakable sound of live trad in a classic Fleadh atmosphere.
Parliament Street will be a family-friendly zone with arts and crafts, storytelling, music workshops, appearances by the Fingal Mummers, and performances from Faró. Budding musicians can try the pipes or experience the harp in hands-on workshops.
Organisers encourage people to make a day of it, move between the venues, and soak up the music, culture and community spirit at the heart of the Fleadh. The event is organised by Dublin City Council. Full programme details are available at www.dublin.ie/dublincityfleadh.
