Gardaí Appeal for Witnesses After Fatal Pedestrian Collision in County Kilkenny
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the R693 near Arigan Bridge, Cooleshal, Freshford, County Kilkenny, at approximately 9:30am on Wednesday 22nd July 2026.
The collision involved a van and a pedestrian. The pedestrian, a man aged in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His body was subsequently conveyed to University Hospital Waterford, where a post-mortem examination will take place.
The road has since been reopened to traffic.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to step forward. Any road users who were travelling from Freshford towards Kilkenny between 9:00am and 9:30am on Wednesday morning and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, are asked to make this available to officers.
Anyone with information is requested to contact Kilkenny Garda Station on 056 777 5000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
