Kinsale Water Mains Upgrade To Improve Reliability

Uisce Éireann will replace 600 metres of ageing water mains on Butchers Row and Blind Gate from next week to improve supply reliability in Kinsale, with completion targeted for late August and traffic management in place throughout the works.

Uisce Éireann said the project will strengthen the local network and cut the risk of bursts and leaks that have previously caused supply interruptions and wasted treated drinking water. The scheme involves installing new, modern pipes to reduce disruption for households and businesses.

Jack Cronin of Uisce Éireann said: "Every pipe we replace is guided by one clear goal: providing a water supply people can count on. These improvements make a difference every single day, in every tap, home and throughout the community. By focusing on delivering a more reliable supply, we’re helping to build a stronger, more resilient water service for the people of Kinsale now and for generations to come."

Works will include new water service connections from the public main in the roadway to customers’ property boundaries, linking them to individual supplies.

The project is being delivered by Ward and Burke Construction Ltd. on behalf of Uisce Éireann and is expected to be finished by late August.
