Gardaí have launched an appeal for witnesses following a fatal road traffic incident in Carlow Town on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 8:30pm on 29 June after reports that two males had fallen from an e-scooter while travelling on Carpenters Way.

One of the individuals, a juvenile male in his late teens, sustained serious injuries and was initially taken to St Luke's Hospital before being transferred to Beaumont Hospital. He was later pronounced dead. The second individual, an adult male also in his late teens, was medically assessed at the scene and did not require immediate hospital treatment.

The area remains preserved for forensic examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, with the road currently closed and local traffic diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward. Investigators are also seeking road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam recordings, from the Carpenters Way area around the time of the collision.
