Dublin City Council Unveils Free 'We Love July' 2026 Programme
Dublin City Council is inviting people of all ages to take part in Dublin City Council We Love July 2026, a month-long programme of free, family-friendly activities showcasing the capital’s imagination, heritage and community spirit.
Running every Saturday in July from 12 noon to 6pm, Dublin City Council We Love July will turn four of the city’s most recognisable public spaces into lively hubs filled with music, performance, storytelling, art, play and discovery.
Tony Smithers, Head of Events & Filming at Dublin City Council, said: "Dublin City Council We Love July is about bringing Dublin to life and creating welcoming, inclusive spaces where everyone can come together to connect, create and enjoy the city. Across four Saturdays, we are transforming some of Dublin’s most iconic public spaces into vibrant hubs of activity that are open and accessible to all, where people of all ages, backgrounds and abilities can explore, discover and take part.
"Dublin City Council is proud to deliver this series of free events, celebrating the diversity, creativity and energy of the city, and showcasing the richness of Dublin’s cultural life. We are committed to ensuring these events are inclusive, accessible and representative of all communities, and we look forward to welcoming residents and visitors alike to feel valued, respected and included while enjoying everything Dublin City Council We Love July has to offer."
Each Saturday explores a different facet of life in Dublin, from play and participation to creativity, culture and the stories that bind communities together. The series opens on Saturday 4 July in Smithfield with Heart of Play, a joyful day of exploration and shared experiences. Audiences can expect live music, circus and aerial performances, dance, street theatre, workshops, interactive play spaces, walkabout acts and immersive virtual reality.
On Saturday 11 July, the programme moves to St. Patrick's Park for Heart of Our Story, inspired by Dublin’s literary heritage and the 300th anniversary of Gulliver's Travels. Storytellers, musicians, puppeteers and circus performers will animate the park through performances, workshops and imaginative experiences that spark curiosity and celebrate the city’s stories.
Saturday 18 July brings Heart of Creativity to Merrion Square Park, spotlighting imagination, artistic expression and the creative talent that has long defined Dublin. Full programme details will be announced in the coming weeks.
The series concludes on Saturday 25 July in Fairview Park with Heart of Movement, celebrating the energy, activity and sporting spirit of Dublin’s communities. Showcasing the many ways people connect through sport, recreation and movement, the event will promote wellbeing and active lifestyles for all ages. Further details will be confirmed soon.
Designed with something for everyone—from toddlers at their first puppet show to teenagers trying virtual reality, friends enjoying live performances, and older generations sharing memories—Dublin City Council We Love July offers inclusive days out across the city.
Together, the four events paint a living portrait of Dublin—its people, stories, imagination and vitality. All events are free and open to everyone, with further programme announcements to follow. A media image folder is available, with files named by act and performance date.
