Gardaí and NCA Disrupt International Money Laundering Network
On Tuesday 26 May 2026, Gardaí attached to the Kilkenny Detective Unit conducted a coordinated day of action targeting online fraud linked to a sophisticated money laundering network.
During the operation, Gardaí executed searches at a number of residential and commercial properties across Counties Donegal, Longford, and Louth. As a result of these searches, officers seized £174,000 in sterling, €7,000 in cash, a motor vehicle, and various other items of significant evidential value.
Two adult males, aged in their 30s and 60s, were arrested during the raids. Both individuals are currently being detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a Garda Station in County Kilkenny.
Following up on the cross-border investigation, the National Crime Agency (NCA) enacted further enforcement action on Wednesday 27 May 2026 in Northern Ireland. NCA officers arrested three males aged in their 40s and 60s, alongside one female aged in her 30s, in Cookstown, County Tyrone.
Law enforcement agencies on both sides of the border confirm that investigations into the fraud network remain active and ongoing.

Two Held Over Navan Murder
Gardaí investigating the murder of a 63-year-old man in Navan last month have arrested two teenagers. Martin O'Gorman, from Athlone, was found lying unconscious on Academy Street on June 21. It is believed that he was attacked by a group of people.

Gardaí investigating the murder of a man outside a motorcycle club in Limerick, have been granted more time to question three men. A special sitting of Limerick District Court granted garda more time to question a 27-year-old man and two me aged in their 40s, arrested on Saturday in connection with the murder.

Two Gardaí officers have been honoured by Spanish police for their work helping tackle organised crime in Spain. Detective Superintendent Seamus Boland of the Garda National Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) within Special Crime Operations and a Garda Liaison Officer visited Mallorca to receive the honour by the Guardia Civil.
