Young Man Dies In Cork City Assault
A 20 year-old man has lost his life in an assault in Cork city.
Gardaí rushed to the scene on Brandon Road following the assault at around 9.20pm on Thursday evening, 16 January.
The victim was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment to "life-threatening injuries" before being pronounced dead.
Gardaí have launched an investigation and urged witnesses to contact Bridewell Station on 021-4943330.
The scene is currently preserved for technical examination while the local coroner and state pathologist prepare to carry out a post mortem later today, Friday 17.
Anyone with details or video footage of the fatal assault is urged to contact Gardaí immediately and not to share it on social media.

Manhunt After Two Stabbed In Cork
Gardaí have launched a manhunt after two people were stabbed at Cork University Hospital. Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Serious Knife Assault In Cork City
Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to a knife attack in Cork city in the early hours of Sunday morning. It is understood that a 38-year-old man was stabbed three times outside a house at Croaghtamore Square in Glasheen, in the southside of the city, at about 01:30 on Sunday. One of the stab wounds pierced the man's heart.
