20-Year-Old Charged With Attempted Abduction Of 69-Year-Old Woman
A 20-year-old has appeared at Dublin District Court charged in connection with the attempted abduction of a woman in Dublin.
The woman, 69, was attacked from behind on the morning of Monday, 06 January, as she walked on Blackhorse Avenue. In the attack, the man allegedly tried to force the woman into his car – first in the boot and then in the passenger seat. The woman fought with the man and managed to stop herself being forced into the vehicle.
According to reports, the man allegedly said "I'm sorry, it was a joke that went wrong", in response to the charge.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on 16 January.

Man Due In Court Over Clonmel Death

Two Charged Over Cork Assault
Two men have been arrested in connection with a serious assault on a businessman at a Cork industrial estate on Tuesday. A man returning to his business at Churchfield Industrial Estate at about 16:45 on Tuesday was approached by two men, who demanded money. Following a struggle, the 30-year-old man was left with serious injuries.

Eight Arrested In Connection With NYD Death
Gardaí investigating the death of Dale Creighton have arrested seven men and one woman. Mr Creighton died on 01 January this year following an assault at about 4am on New Year's Day. The 20-year-old man died in Beaumont Hospital from severe injuries sustained in the attack.
