Sinn Féin Extend Condolences To Family Of Gay Byrne

Louth TD and former leader of Sinn Féin Gerry Adam has extended his condolences to the family of Gay Byrne who died on Monday 04 November.

Mr Adams said: "I want to extend my sympathy and solidarity to the family and friends of Gay Byrne who died today. My sympathies also to his colleagues in RTÉ.

"Gay Byrne was the quintessential broadcast media presenter. Whether on television or radio he had a unique ability to connect with his audience.

"To his wife Kathleen, daughters Suzy and Crona, and to the wider family circle and his many friends I want to extend my sincerest condolences on their loss.

"Ar dheis dé go raibh a anam dílis."  

Man Arrested In Connection With Drug Seizure In Co Cork

A man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested in connection with the seizure of cannabis herb in Mallow, Co Cork.

At approximately 11.30am, Gardaí from the Mallow District Drugs Unit, assisted by Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue's Customs Service, carried out a planned, intelligence lead operation in Mallow town.

During the operation, €70,000 worth of suspected cannabis herb was seized and will now be sent for analysis.

A man in his 20s was arrested and is currently detained in Mallow Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Two Men Arrested In Connection With ATM Fraud Incidents

Gardaí from the National Economic Crime Bureau have arrested two men in connection with a series of ATM fraud incidents.

The arrests were made during a search operation in the Malahide area this morning.

According to reports, the investigation centres on a number of cash reversal attacks – where cash is taken and the ATM is shut down – in Drogheda, Swords and Blanchardstown.

Clothing, cash and a number of prepaid cards were seized during the search.

The men - aged 34 and 27 - are to appear at the Criminal Courts of Justice later today.

Fourth Man Arrested In David Byrne Murder Investigation
A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the murder of David Byrne. Mr Byrne was shot dead during a boxing weigh-in event at the Regency Hotel in Dublin on 05 February, 2016 A man, aged in his 50s, was arrested on Wednesday. He is being detained at Raheny Garda Station under Section 50 of The Criminal Justice Act 2007.

Two Arrested Over Byrne Murder
Two men in their 20's have been arrested in West Dublin in connection with the murder of a 19-year-old man in Inchicore. David Byrne was found in the car park of Emmet Court apartment block on Saturday night. He was stabbed at least four times and was pronounced dead in St James's Hospital.

Funeral Of Broadcaster Gay Byrne Takes Place In Dublin
The funeral mass of broadcasting giant Gay Byrne has taken place in Dublin today, Friday 08 November. Among those attending to lay the former Late Late Show host to rest were President Michael D Higgins and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar. Mr Byrne died aged 85 on Monday after a long illness.
