€79k Cash Seized At Dublin Port
Revenue officers have been granted a three month cash detention order at Dublin District Court following the seizure of over €79,000 at Dublin Port.
The cash was discovered following routine examinations of vehicles travelling to France, when revenue detector dog James showed interest in a particular vehicle. When stopped and searched by officers, the vehicle was also scanned using Revenue's Mobile X-Ray Scanner Unit.
The search and subsequent scan resulted in the discovery of two packages containing the cash, €79,110, which was concealed underneath the vehicle.
Investigations are ongoing following the routine operation as part of Revenue's ongoing work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.

Officers Seize €20,000 At Knock Airport
Revenue officers seized €20,000 in cash from a couple who landed in Knock airport having returned from Lanzarote. The can was concealed in items of clothing and carry-on luggage. The cash was seized under the Proceeds of Crime Act and investigations are continuing.

Cigarettes Seized In Laois
Revenue Commissioners have seized between eight and nine million contraband cigarettes in Co. Laois. It is understood that the cigarettes, which were valued at €3 million, were found in a container, which was wrongly delivered to an address in Durrow. It is believed that the container came from Spain and passed through Dublin Port.

Revenue officers have seized a quantity of cash from a Polish national at Shannon Airport. The seizure was made on Monday when a man, in his thirties, was stopped and questioned by Revenue officers before boarding a flight to Krakow.

Two Arrests As €178k Cash & €50k Drugs Seized In Galway
Gardaí have made two arrests in connection with the seizure of €178,500 in cash and cocaine worth €50,000 in Galway. A number of drug manufacturing components were also discovered during the intelligence led operation into the sale and supply of drugs in the area on Sunday evening, 19 January.
