Renewed Appeal For Information On Murder In Swords

Gardaí have renewed an appeal for information on the murder of a 56-year-old man in Swords on Sunday, 16 July.

Investigating Gardaí are particularly anxious to speak to two separate taxi drivers. One taxi picked up a fare at Swords Manor at approximately 12.50am on the morning of the 16 July, the fare included two males and two females. The group were dropped on North Street Swords a short time later. One of the male passengers was carrying a large dark coloured sports bag.

The second taxi picked up a male passenger on Main Street Swords approximately two hours later at 2.55am. This man was in possession of a large coloured sports bag.

Gardaí would also like to speak to three men who were walking from North Street towards Main Street at 2.50am.

Gardaí Appeal For Witnesses To Fatal Swords Road Crash
Gardaí have appealed to witnesses of a fatal road crash in North County Dublin to contact them. The appeal concerns a road accident in which a 78-year-old woman died when a car she was in collided with a second car on the Coast Road, in Malahide. The woman was taken to Beaumont Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time after arrival.

Gardaí Appeal Over Swords Assault
Gardaí in Dublin have issued an appeal to anyone who witnessed an assault on Main Street, Swords yesterday (10 October) afternoon. The victim, a man in his 40s and originally from Nigeria, is in a critical condition at Beaumont Hospital after he was attacked with a baseball bat around 12.20pm.

Suspended Sentence For Trinity Lecturer Who Threw Man Over Wall
A Trinity College lecturer, who left a man with severe head injuries after throwing him over a 15ft drop, received a six year suspended sentence yesterday. 35-year-old John Whipple claimed he attacked the victim because the man had urinated on his shoes. His victim was left with a fractured skull, bleeding on the brain and facial palsy.
