Renewed Appeal On Fifth Anniversary Of Murder Of James Cahillane

Gardaí have issued a fresh appeal for information on the fifth anniversary of the murder of James Cahillane.

Mr Cahillane was found dead following a fire at his home at Ardraw, Beaufort, Killarney in Co Kenny on 19 April, 2012.

Gardaí said that on 18 April, 2012, Mr Cahillane spent a number of hours in a pub in Killorglin before getting a taxi home, which is a rural area approximately 5kms from Killorglin.

At about 2:05am on the 19 April 2012, neighbours noticed a fire at the home of Mr Cahillane. The fire services attended and the body of James Cahillane was discovered at the scene.

Following a post mortem examination, a murder investigation commenced and despite great assistance provided by the public, this crime remains unsolved.

Marking the fifth anniversary of this crime, a further appeal is being made for information. This investigation will be featured in the upcoming edition of Crime Call which will be aired on Monday, 24 April.

Two Arrested Over Death Of James Cahillane
Two people have been arrested in connection with the death of James Cahillane last year. Mr Cahillane's body was discovered after a fire at his house in Beaufort, Co Kerry, in April 2012. A man and a woman were arrested this morning and are being detained at Tralee and Killarney garda stations.

Investigation Launched After Injuries Found On Body Discovered In House Fire
An investigation has been launched into the death of 58-year-old James Cahillane. Mr Cahillane’s body was discovered after a fire at his home at Ardraw Beaufort in Kilmorgin in the early hours of Thursday morning. However following a post-mortem it was found that the father-of-two had suffered serious injuried to his body prior to the fire.

Appeal Issued For Information On Three Disappeared Victims
The Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald has appealed for anyone with information on the whereabouts of the remains of the bodies of the Disappeared to come forward. It follows the confirmation that human remains found at the beginning of October are that of Disappeared victim Brenda Megraw.

Appeal Launched Over Fatal Fire In Cork City
Gardai at Blackrock investigating the circumstances surrounding a fatal fire at a house in Cork City have appealed to the public for their assistance. The fire started at a house in Nutley Avenue, Mahon, in Cork City. They are interested in talking to a number of possible witnesses who may be able to assist with the investigation.
