Cigarettes, Tobacco And Alcohol Seized In Dublin
Revenue officers have seized cigarettes, tobacco and vodka following the search of a number of premises under warrant in the Dublin area.
The searches were part of an intelligence-led operation targeting the illegal sale and distribution of contraband tobacco products in Dublin. Revenue officers were assisted by members of An Garda Síochána.
A total of 23,420 contraband cigarettes were seized and brands included, 'Mayfair', 'Dorchester', 'Marlboro Gold', 'MG', 'Winston', 'Route 66', 'Jim' & '821'.
A total of 6.6kg of illegal tobacco brands, 'Eastenders', 'Samson', 'Amber Leaf' and 'Flandria' were seized, along with 68 bottles of vodka, suspected to be counterfeit. The combined retail value for the goods seized was over €18,000, representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €14,000.
A car was also seized during the operation.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

Revenue officers at Dublin Airport have seized 19,000 'Marlboro' brand cigarettes inside the luggage of a man arriving on a flight from Chisnau, via Istanbul. The contraband cigarettes were uncovered by detector dog "Lottie", and represented a potential loss to the Exchequer of approximately €7,000.
