Appeal For Witnesses Following Fatal Collision In Co Galway

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to a fatal road traffic collision at Coolagh, Gurtymadden in Co Galway.

The incident occurred on the Loughrea to Killimor Road (N65) about three miles outside Killimor at around 2.45am on Thursday, 28 July.

A 26-year-old man was seriously injured when the car he was travelling in collided with a concrete barrier.

He was taken to University College Hospital Galway, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses, in particular anyone who was on that stretch of road between 2.30am and 2.45am, to contact Ballinasloe Garda Station on 090 9631890, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dublin Shooting Incident
Gardaí investigating a shooting incident outside a west Dublin school have made an arrest. A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested during the course of the search operation in Corduff. A 24-year-old man has been arrested in an operation targeting organised criminal gangs in the Crumlin area of Dublin. Gardaí from Sundrive Road Garda Station arrested the man on Tuesday, 12 July, shortly after 9pm when they stopped and searched a car and its occupant close to Old County Road and discovered a firearm and ammunition.

Garda have detained a man in connection with a fatal road crash in Co Mayo on Sunday, 08 May. A 41-year-old motorcyclist was killed when his bike collided with a van on the N26 at Ballinahaglush at around 3.45pm. A man was arrested and is being detained at Ballina Garda Station.
