Bill On Abortion In Cases Of Foetal Abnormality Defeated In The Dáil

A bill on abortion in cases of foetal abnormality has been defeated in the Dáil.

The Fatal Foetal Abnormalities Bill was rejected by 95 TDs and backed by 45.

The bill was brought forward by Independents4Change TD Mick Wallace, however it was deemed unconstitutional by the Attorney General.

A proposed change to Ireland's abortion law has been rejected by the government. The change, if approved, would have legalised terminations in fatal foetal abnormality cases. The bill, which had been proposed by Clare Daly TD, was defeated by 104 votes to 20.
