Man Dies After Being Struck By Car In Co Galway
A 66-year-old pedestrian has died after he was hit by a car in Co Galway.
The accident happened shortly after 12.30am on Monday on the N18.
The vehicle also struck a parked Garda car and two officers who were outside the car were injured.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been removed to The University Hospital Galway.
The two Garda officers are also being treated at the hospital, however their injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A spokesperson confirmed there was no Garda misconduct and the Garda Siochana investigation is continuing.

A 23-year-old man has died following a fatal car crash in Banagher, Co Galway. The incident occurred at Shannongrove at around 12.05am this morning, Wednesday 23 August. The victim was fatally injured when the car he was driving collided with a wall.

Gardaí in Galway have reported that a man in his 60s has been killed in a hit-and-run incident in Loughrea on Wednesday night. According to garda the man was cycling when his bicycle was hit by a car at about 20:30 close to pedestrian lights on the Gort Road. It is believed that the man was hit by a blue BMW, with a partial registration of 01 g.
