Suspected Pipe Bombs Found In Limerick

Two suspected pipe bombs have been found in Limerick, it has been reported. The discovery is understood to be part of a Garda investigation in dissident republican activity in the county.

Searches were carried out between Fedamore and Meanus on Thursday by gardaí, with the Army Bomb Squad called at around 9am after a number of 'suspicious items' were found.

Two improvised devices, believed to be home-made pipe bombs, were discovered around 1pm.

No arrests have been made in connection with the discovery.

Investigations are ongoing.

Helicopter 'Top Cover' As Bomb Defused
A residential suburb of Co Antrim returned to normal yesterday evening after the Army dealt with a pipe bomb in Harmin Park, Glengormley. The PSNI helicopter was overhead of the Newtownabbey district - close to north Belfast - for most of Monday afternoon and some residents were asked to leave their homes, while the examination was carried out.

North Belfast Alert Follows Overnight Blast
There's a bomb alert in progress this morning in north Belfast as a device has been found close to a community centre on the Limestone Road. The roadway beside it has been closed as the alert is ongoing, following the discovery and parts of York Road and North Queen Street have also been closed.

Pipe Bombs Made Safe In Tallaght
The Army bomb squad have made safe three viable pipe bombs found overnight in Tallaght. Garda reported that three explosive devices were discovered in a green area of the Cushlawn estate yesterday evening by a member of the public. Nearby houses were evacuate while the army explosive ordnance disposal division inspected the devices.

Court Date For Gang Suspect
A man will apear in court at Thurles later following his arrest in connection with an ongoing Garda operation into organised crime and drug distribution in Co Tipperary. The man was among eight men arrested in Tipperary last night following the discovery of four pipe bombs, a hand gun and ammunition.

Over 660 Motorists Found Speeding Over Easter Bank Holidays
More than 660 motorists were caught breaking the speed limit across the Causeway Coast and Glens during the Easter bank holiday weekend – an increase of 22% from 2022. Chief Inspector Sinead McIldowney said: "The Safety Camera Vans were deployed at various locations across the North Coast and the increase in these detections is a worrying trend.
