Pensioner Dies In Co Monaghan Road Crash

A pensioner has died following a road collision in Co Monaghan.

The two-vehicle incident occurred on the R188, Monaghan to Cootehill road, at Stranooden on Saturday.

A passenger in one of the cars, a female aged in her 80s, was taken by ambulance to Cavan General Hospital, however she was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car and a second passenger suffered minor injuries, and two other passengers did not require hospital treatment.

The female driver of the second car was also taken to Cavan General Hospital, however her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

The Coroner has been notified.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

A woman has died in a road crash in County Meath this morning. The collision, between a truck and a car, happened on the Duleek to Drogheda Road at approximately 6am on Thursday. Another female passenger in the car has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with serious injuries.

Second Woman Dies In Westmeath Road Collision
A second woman has died after she sustained injuries in a road collision in Westmeath. The crash, between two cars and a truck, happened in Hiskinstown at around 3.30pm on Saturday, 08 October. A passenger in one of the cars died at the scene and the driver in one of the vehicles died from her injuries at Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar.
