Cocaine, Cash And Cigarettes Seized At Dublin Airport

Revenue Officers have seized cocaine, cash and cigarettes in a number of separate operations at Dublin Airport.

On Sunday, 27 September, Revenue officers, with the assistance of detection dog Scooby, seized 5.7kgs of cocaine worth €400,000 from a 48-year-old Italian male who had arrived in on a flight from Dubai.

The drugs were discovered concealed in his baggage. He was arrested by An Garda Siochána and is due to appear in court later today (Tuesday).

In a separate operation on Saturday, 26 September, officers seized over 41,000 cigarettes with a retail value of €20,600 when they stopped and searched the luggage of two Polish males who had arrived in on a flight from Warsaw, Poland.

On Friday, 25 September, officers detained €10,120 in cash from a Polish male in his thirties travelling from Poland. Officers detained the cash in accordance with the proceeds of crime legislation.

On Wednesday, 12 October, the cigarettes were detected, with the help of detector dog Casey, in five pallets which were marked as 'catering equipment' and had arrived into Dublin from the Netherlands.

Dogs, Cash & Cigarettes Seized In Revenue Operations
Revenue officers seized two dogs, a quantity of cash and thousands of unstamped cigarettes during separate operations across the country on Tuesday 05 November. Routine profiling led to the discovery of over €27,000 in the luggage of an Irish national travelling from Shannon to Malaga.

Cannabis Seized In Co Kildare
Gardaí in Co Kildare have seized cannabis worth an estimated €800,000. The find was made during a planned search of a house in Crossmorris on Monday. Officers seized 40kg of cannabis herb in the search. A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the find.

Cigarettes, Drugs And Cash Seized In Dundalk Raids
Revenue and garda officers have seized 20,000 illegal cigarettes, a quantity of drugs and cash during two searches in Dundalk, Co Louth. Revenue officers, acting on intelligence, carried out searches at two premises and discovered 20,000 smuggled 'Excellence'-branded cigarettes along with 7kgs of 'Flandria' tobacco.
