New Campaign Launches To Encourage UK Nurses To Work In Ireland
The HSE has launched a new recruitment campaign to attract nurses and midwives working in the UK and further afield to work in Ireland.
The HSE has vacancies in a range of hospital and community facilities and is seeking to attract up to 500 nurses and midwives. It is hoped that many Irish nurses and midwives working in the UK will take up the opportunity to return home and work in the Irish publicly funded health services.
Ian Tegerdine, National Director of Human Resources, said: "The campaign will focus on connecting with nurses and midwives in the UK and further afield via advertising on social media channels such as Facebook and Twitter and a dedicated microsite during the coming months.
"This activity will be complemented by print advertisements in Irish newspapers to raise awareness of the recruitment drive among those who may have family and friends abroad who might be interested in these positions."

Nurses Vote 'No Confidence' In Hospital Chiefs
Protesting nurses at Portiuncula Hospital in Galway have passed a vote of no confidence in their Director of Nursing and General Manager. Nurses working in the Ballinasloe hospital cast their vote at a general meeting this week, over the handling of an ongoing dispute within senior nurse management at the hospital.

Sligo Nurses Walk Out In Strike Action
In spite of last minute negotiations, nurses at a leading hospital are today taking industrial action. Sligo General Hospital has been hit by the action as the nursing staff are staging a one-day strike. Some 240 members of the Irish Nurses Organisation and SIPTU are taking part in the day of action, which started at 8am this morning.
