New By-Laws Ban Swearing In Co Waterford Parks

New by-laws being introduced in Co Waterford will ban swearing, smoking and the use of e-cigarettes in parks and playgrounds.

The new Parks, Playgrounds and Open Spaces By-Laws 2015 outlaws a number of acts in public places, with some carrying a fine of more than €1,200, as part of a clampdown on anti-social behaviour.

Outlawed acts include: swearing, smoking, e-cigarettes, gambling, begging, the use of firearms in designated green spaces, conducting religious services, flying model airplanes, or grazing cattle, sheep, horses and donkeys in designated areas.

The new by-laws will come into force in July.
