Witnesses Sought Following Serious Assault In Cork

Gardaí in Cork are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault at an industrial estate on Tuesday afternoon.

A man, aged in his 30, was returning to premises at Churchfield Industrial Estate at about 16:45. As he parked his car, two men approached the man, threatening him and demanding money. Garda said that a struggle ensued and the man was seriously assaulted.

The two males fled the scene without any money. Gardai arrived and carried out a search of the area and two men, aged 19 and 25, were arrested.

The injured man was taken to Cork University Hospital where his condition is described as serious but stable.

Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have seen anyone acting suspiciously around the scene at Churchfield Ind Estate to contact them in Gurranabraher on 021 4946200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.

Missing Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 24-year-old man has been found "safe and well". Alex Sherwin had been reported missing on Sunday, with garda issuing a public appeal for assistance. No information on Mr Sherwin's whereabouts have been released, but garda said the investigation had now ended. They thanked the public for their help.

Limerick Man Dies After Assault In Home
A 48-year-old man has died as a result of serious injuries he received in his own home after a serious assault. Gardaí have launched a murder investigation into the attack during which, Limerick man Joe O'Donnell, 48, of Hyde Road, suffered serious head wounds in the early hours of Friday morning.
