New Diaspora Programme Launched By Government

A new statement on the government's policy on diaspora has been released by Foreign Minister Charlie Flanagan and Minister of State for Diaspora Affairs Jimmy Deenihan.

'Global Irish: Ireland's Diaspora Policy' sets out actions to develop the relationship between Ireland and its diaspora.

It comes as a new website - www.dfa.ie/global-irish - has also been launched.

New initiatives include a Global Irish Media Fund to encourage and support media coverage of the diaspora and emigration experience.

Also included is an alumni challenge fund for new collaborative initiatives by Irish institutions to target Irish and non-Irish graduates working internationally.

A fourth Global Irish Economic Forum has also been announced for Dublin in November 2015.

SF Nominate Ciaran Staunton For Seanad Election

200 New Jobs Announced In DPD Ireland Expansion
Two hundred new jobs are to be created as part of a €13 million expansion announced by DPD Ireland. DPD has announced that it is to double the size of its Athlone headquarters, creating a total of 200 new jobs over the next five years, with 70 of those jobs expected to be filled by Christmas.
