Murder Investigation Launched After Man Shot Dead Through Front Door
A man aged in his 60s has been shot dead at his home on Harty Avenue in Walkinstown, Dublin.
It is understood the man was answering a knock on his door at about 21:30 on Sunday, when he was shot twice through the door.
The gunman then fled the scene in a Honda Civic car, which was found burnt out a short time later.
The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to St James's Hospital were he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Gardaí are working to establish a motive for the attack but have said they are "not sure" the victim was the gunman's intended target.
Garda have appealed for anyone with any information to come forward.

Four Held Over McMahon Murder
Four people have been arrested in connection with the murder of Sean McMahon in Tallaght in Dublin in November. Mr McMahon, 35, was shot dead at his home in Donaghmore Avenue on November 14. It is believed that the gunman entered his house through the back door.

A man in his 30's has been shot dead at a caravan park in County Louth. The victim was shot a number of times at around 2.50pm on Tuesday afternoon, 27 August, at a park on the Clogherhead to Termonfeckin Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene. It is believed the shots were fired from a passing car.

Man Shot Dead At Bray Boxing Club
A man has died and two other men have been injured in a shooting incident at Bray Boxing Club just before 7am this morning, Tuesday 05 June. It is understood that an armed man entered the boxing club and fired a number of shots. One man, said to be aged in his 30s, was shot dead.
