Eight Admitted To Hospital After Chemical Leak

Eight people have received hospital treatment following a "localised chemical leak from a manufacturing vessel" at Bristol Myers Squibb in Co Dublin.

The biopharma company, which is based in Swords, said that an onsite emergency response team were able to deal with the incident.

Eight members of staff were admitted to hospital after presenting with "reactionary symptoms", but have since been discharged.

The Health and Safety Authority is investigating the leak.

The bodies of two elderly women have been found in a house in Glenties, Donegal. According to gardaí, the women, believed to be aged 80 and 87, were found yesterday evening. Initial reports suggest the cause of deaths may have been a gas leak in the house. It is believed gardaí attemped to revive one of the women but was unsuccessful.

Eight In Hospital Following Clare Chemical Spill
Eight people are being treated in hospital following a chemical spill in County Clare. The affected are being cared for at Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick. The Health and Safety Authority has launched an investigation into the incident at the Chemifloc plant in Shannon on 20 December.

Man Suffers Burn Injuries Following Dublin Explosion
A man is suffering from serious burn injuries following an explosion at a house in Dublin. The man, 58, was rescued by firefighters and taken to the Mater Hospital. The house was also damaged in the explosion. It is believed it could be related to a gas leak. Residents in nearby homes were also evacuated.
