Weather Causes Traffic Chaos

Stormy weather is continuing to cause chaos throughout Ireland.

Over the weekend, Met Éireann issued a status orange wind warning for the west and the north of the country, which remained in place until 9am this morning (12 January). However, people are still warned to expect gale force winds around coastal areas throughout the day.

Public transport is also continuing to be disrupted by the weather, with a flight cancelled earlier this morning, while some Irish Ferries services were also cancelled. Fallen trees are also causing difficulties for motorists.

Elsewhere, power has since been restored to thousands of homes in Greystones, Co Wicklow. Around 4,000 homes were left without power, but a spokesperson for ESB has said the outage was down to a cable fault, and not bad weather.
