Irishman Dies In New Zealand

An Irishman has been killed in a road accident in New Zealand.

The victim, who has been named in local media as Martin Cadden died on Friday evening (2 January).

It is understood Mr Cadden, 22, lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree on The Lake Road in Leeston, Canterbury.

He was the only person in the vehicle at the time.

Mr Cadden, who was originally from Loughduff in Co Cavan, is thought to have been on a working visa in New Zealand since 2013.

A young Irishman has drowned while on holiday in New Zealand, it has been reported. It is believed that the 21-year-old was among a group of six tourists who had been swimming in the Waikato River in Taupo in the central part of the country's North Island, when the tragedy happened.
