Counterfeit Toys Seized At Dublin Port

Customs officers have seized counterfeit toys worth an estimated €600,000 at Dublin Port.

It is understood that officers from Revenue's Customs Service uncovered a consignment of around 20,000 toys originating from China.

The toys are understood to be based on popular children's film characters.

The toys will be destroyed once it's confirmed that intellectual property rights have been breached.

Revenue Customs Officers have seized over 10.3 million cigarettes, with a retail value of over €4.7m at Dublin Port. The Don Corleone cigarettes were hidden in a 40-foot container and were described as "paper handkerchiefs" on the manifest. The investigation is continuing.

Cocaine Seized In Two Operations At Dublin Airport
Cocaine worth more than €20,000 has been seized by Revenue Customs Officers at Dublin Airport in two separate intelligence-led operations. In an operation on Friday, 07 August, cocaine worth €16,800 was found in the luggage of an Irish male in his 20s, who was departing for Ibiza on Friday.

Over 900,000 Cigarettes Seized In Three Customs Service Operations
Revenue's Customs Service have seized 900,000 cigarettes at Dublin Port as a result of routine profiling. On Wednesday, 12 October, the cigarettes were detected, with the help of detector dog Casey, in five pallets which were marked as 'catering equipment' and had arrived into Dublin from the Netherlands.

Cannabis Worth €37.5m Seized
Cannabis worth an estimated €37.5 million has been seized in a joint operation between the Gardaí Drugs & Organised Crime Bureau and Revenue's Customs Service. As part of an ongoing joint investigation into organised crime groups, officers identified and intercepted a consignment, which had arrived into Dublin.

Men Arrested Over Contraband Cigarettes
Revenue Customs Service have arrested two polish men following the seizure of contraband tobacco. In a planned search of a house in Tralee, Co Kerry, officers recoverd 46kgs of 'Pall Mall' and 'Turner' roll-your-own tobacco. The tobacco is estimated to be worth €18,300, representing a potential loss to the exchequer of €14,800.
