1,000 Kilos Of Cocaine Seized Off Cork Coast

Cocaine with an estimated street value of €80 million has been seized off the coast of Cork.

It is understood an 18m yacht, called the Makayabella, was intercepted around 300 miles west/south-west of Mizen Head.

Naval Services escorted the yacht into Cork Harbour on Wednesday, where it remained overnight.

The drugs were left onboard overnight pending a forensic examination due to be carried out this morning.

Three men onboard the yacht have been arrested in connection with 1,000 kilos of cocaine.

It is understood the men are British, aged 70, 35 and 28. They can be held for up to seven days.

A fourth man was arrested by British authorities in West Yorkshire also in connection with the seized drugs.

Cocaine Seized At Port Of Cork
Customs officers have seized cocaine worth an estimated €1.75m hidden in a shipping container at the Port of Cork. It is understood that officials were inspecting containers being unloaded from a vessel that had arrived from Central America. Gardaí confirmed that an investigation has been launched but no arrests have yet been made.

British Men Remanded Over €500M Cocaine Seizure
The three British men charged in connection with a €500 million cocaine seizure off the coast of West Cork have been remanded in continuing custody after Thursday's court appearance. Philip Doo, 52, Christopher Wiggins, 42, and David Mufford, 44 were in Kinsale District Court this morning facing charges under the Drugs Trafficking Act.

Two Men Arrested Following Planned Searches
Two men have been arrested after gardai in Limerick seized a handgun, cocaine, cash and ammunition. The discovery was made during planned searched of six houses, outhouses and sheds in the Lower Gerald Griffin Street area at around 8.30am today (15 August).

Drugs Seized And 15 Arrests Made In 'Operation Reuben'
Gardaí have arrested a total of 15 people in Co Cork as part of a major anti-drug operation. Dubbed "Operation Reuben", Cork City Divisional Drugs Unit moved in and arrested 15 people within 48 hours following "a lengthy drugs operation". Of those arrested, 11, of which two are female, have been charged.
