Dublin Shopping Centre Evacuated In Security Alert

Dublin's Ilac Centre was evacuated on Thursday night in a security alert over a suspect package outside one of the centre's shops.

The shopping centre was cleared at about 18:00 on Thursday following reports of a suspect package outside the River Island store.

A number of gardaí officers and two units from the Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene, forming a wide cordon around the centre, while the package was investigated.

The security ended at about 19:00 when the package was ruled not to be harmful.

Security Alert At Dublin Garda Station
A garda station in Dublin has been evacuated following the discovery of a suspect package, understood to have been addressed to Justice Minister Alan Shatter. According to reports, the package was discovered by staff at a sorting office, who alerted garda, and triggered a security alert.

A man has been arrested in central Dublin this morning, Thursday, following the discovery of a "suspect package" at Store Street Garda Station. It is understood the incident began just after 6am when garda stopped and searched a man, aged in his 40s, on Store Street.

A man is recovering in hospital after being viciously assaulted in Coolock, Dublin, on Thursday night. The victim was stabbed in the leg and had an unknown substance thrown in his face. The attack happened at the Northside Shopping Centre at around 8.50pm.

Cyber Security Firm To Create 100 New Jobs
Cyber security firm Vectra is to create up to 100 new jobs following an investment of €10million by the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund (ISIF). The company is using the investment to establish a new research and development centre. ISIF's Fergal McAleavey said the investment promised significant economic impact.
