Appeal Issued After Bird Of Prey Found Shot

An appeal for information has been issued after a young peregrine falcon was found illegally shot in Co Wexford.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service were forced to euthanise the native bird of prey after it was found shot at Ballynastraw near Enniscorthy.

It is understood that an x-ray revealed shotgun pellets in the birds wings and legs, and that the birds injuries was so bad that "rehabilitation was unlikely".

Peregrine falcons are a protected species with high legal protection under law.

Anyone with information which could assist the investigation is asked to contact Mr Berridge at 076-1002660
