Cell Search Underway At Portlaoise Prison

Up to 30 mobile phones have been found during a search at Portlaoise maximum security prison this morning.

The search operation began at 7am on Tuesday morning and is currently ongoing, according to a report by RTÉ.

It is understood that dissident republican prisoners have been removed from their cells so that the search can be carried out on the prison's E wing.

Murdered Prison Officer's Funeral Takes Place Today
The funeral of murdered prison officer David Black is due to take place today. The 52-year-old father of two was shot as he drove to his work at Maghaberry Prison. The shooting occurred on the M1 in County Armagh on Thursday. A private service is to be held at the family home in Cookstown.
