Body Recovered Off Coast Of West Cork

The coastguard have recovered the body of man who died in a swimming incident off the coast of West Cork.

It is understood that a member of the public spotted the body floating in the water in Roaringwater Bay near Aughadown Pier between Skibbereen and Ballydehob at about around 13:00 on Wednesday.

Schull Coastguard assisted gardaí in recovering the body, which was then taken to Cork University Hospital for a post-mortem.

It is understood the man was a strong swimmer and gardaí are hoping the post-mortem will show whether he may have suffered some adverse event in the water.

The identity of the man, who is said to be aged in his 60s, is not yet known.

Body Found In Co Donegal

Garda Investigate Shooting At Co Cork Home
An investigation has been launched after a shot was fired at a house in Co Cork on Monday. It is understood that armed gardaí responded to reports of a shot being fired at a house in Crookstown. When they arrived an elderly man is understood to have come out and spoken with garda officers at about 19:00.

Missing Cork Man Found 'Safe And Well'
A missing 52-year-old man from Cork has been found 'safe and well', garda have reported. John Ryan was last seen in the Shanakiel area of Cork City on Wednesday, 24 May. However, Mr Ryan has now been located and no further action is required.

Investigation Launched Into Galway Body Find
Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of a man's body in an apartment in Galway City. It is understood that the man's body was found by his flatmate on Monday. According to reports, the dead man is believed to be a 23-year-old from Tullamore in Co Offaly who was studying in Galway City.
