Three Bars To Close With 50 Job Losses In Waterford City

Around 50 jobs have been lost in Waterford with the closure of three pubs in the city.

The Showboat, the Mansion House and the Halfway House informed staff on Monday night that the three businesses would be closing with immediate effect.

According to reports around 15 staff members are staging a sit in protest at the Showboat over the job loses.

It is understood that workers at the Mansion House and the Halfway House are due to hold a meeting with management later today.

Three Die In Separate House Fires
Two men and a woman have died in three separate house fires in Limerick and Kerry. In the latest incident, a man in his 60s died following a house fire in Tralee in Co Kerry. The fire broke out in the terraced house in Connolly Park at about 9.30pm yesterday. Gardaí were called to the scene at around 9.

Gardaí Arrest Three Over Dáil Protests
Gardaí in Dublin have arrested three people for public order offences in connection with protests held in Dublin city centre. As the Dáil returned from its summer break, some 500 protesters gathered outside Leinster House, leading to clashes with gardaí, while three people had to receive treatment in hospital.
