DCC Vote To Preserve Poolbeg Chimneys

The Poolbeg Chimneys has been added to Record of Protected Structures (RPS) following the announcement that the ESB was considered demolishing the 689ft structures at Pigeon House.

ESB announced last week that it was conducting a review of the Pigeon House site, which was shut down in 2010, saying that maintaining the tours "may not be the best use of resources."

However, Dublin City Council has now voted to preserve the chimneys, adding them to the RPS. The council's conservation project had previously rejected the same proposal some eight years ago.
